KAPE Scholarships 

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a current KAPE member in good standing (may join KAPE immediately prior to application) 
  • Each member may only win one scholarship from each of the categories listed below:
  1. Student Scholarship
  2. Student Teacher Scholarship
  3. Professional Development Scholarship

 

KAPE Family Member Scholarship
Number of Scholarships Awarded- 2 $500 each

 

FOCUS: A graduating senior who is recommended by a KAPE family member. 

Limitations: Family member scholarships may only be awarded to (2) family members per KAPE member nominee.  Family member: child, niece/nephew, grandchild, sibling 

These scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors.  The students will qualify if they plan to further their education in a program leading to a two/four year certification or degree program.  (This includes vocational/technical schools.)  The scholarship is merit based.           

Additional Requirements

  • Completed application postmarked or received by March 15
  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Minimum ACT score of 23
  • Copy of current high school transcript
  • 2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers or administrators with no familial relation
  • Essay (minimum 300 words) Entitled: In five years, I will be….

Award Amount- $500/student $250 nominating KAPE teacher

Graduating senior must be recommended by a current KAPE member.

KAPE- Student Teacher Scholarship in memory of Jane Chittenden
2 scholarships awarded (Spring and Fall semester)
Award Amount- $500/ea

KAPE student member must be completing their student teaching assignment during the semester in which they apply for the scholarship.

Additional Requirements

  • Completed application postmarked or received by:
  1. March 15 (Spring)
  2. October 15 (Fall)
  • Current transcript indicating cumulative GPA of 3.5 (minimum)
  • Copy of student teaching assignment
  • Essay (minimum of 300 words) entitled: My Philosophy of Teaching
  • 2 letters of recommendation:  
    • by supervising teacher
    • by a professor from the College of Education

Amount of Scholarship- $500

Scholarship will be awarded to an active KAPE student member (Freshman to Junior).  Student applicants are not participating in student teaching.

  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Copy of current transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from (2) professors (At least one from a professor in the College of Education)
  • Essay (minimum 300 words) Entitled:  Why I chose teaching as a profession

3 Scholarships Awarded
Amount of Award: $500/ea.

Scholarship award may be used to offset costs of: graduate courses, registration fees to workshops, conferences/conference travel, National Board Certification (first time OR re-certification).

Additional Requirements 

Graduate Courses:

  • Completed application postmarked or received by March 15
  • Proof of enrollment in graduate level education courses (to apply)
  • One page narrative describing the estimated cost of and the name of the course.  Be sure to describe in careful detail the direct benefits this opportunity will bring to your students and/or your colleagues.
  • Letter of recommendation from a professor or administrator in your district

Scholarship offered to graduating senior interested in entering into the field of education.  NO REQUIREMENTS for membership for student OR recommending teacher.

  • 2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers or administrators (of no familial relation to the student)
